Malachi 3:6-12 (New International Version, ©2010)

Breaking Covenant by Withholding Tithes

6 “I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.7 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD Almighty.“But you ask, ‘How are we to return?’

8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.

“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’

“In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the LORD Almighty.12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.

Isaiah 52

1 Awake, awake, Zion,
clothe yourself with strength!
Put on your garments of splendor,
Jerusalem, the holy city.
The uncircumcised and defiled
will not enter you again.
2 Shake off your dust;
rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem.
Free yourself from the chains on your neck,
Daughter Zion, now a captive.

3 For this is what the LORD says:

“You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.”

4 For this is what the Sovereign LORD says:

“At first my people went down to Egypt to live;
lately, Assyria has oppressed them.

5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the LORD.

“For my people have been taken away for nothing,
and those who rule them mock,[a]
declares the LORD.
“And all day long
my name is constantly blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know my name;
therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it.
Yes, it is I.”

7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the LORD returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the LORD has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The LORD will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.

11 Depart, depart, go out from there!
Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure,
you who carry the articles of the LORD’s house.
12 But you will not leave in haste
or go in flight;
for the LORD will go before you,
the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

9 For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9

————————

We pray with fervency and desperation that the Lord shakes us from our complacency, that we would shake off the dust of our shame and mistrust and disappointment and put on the new garments of righteousness and perseverance. We pray that we would walk according to the riches of the Lord we call upon, and according to the new name by which He calls us. We trust that He is sufficient and fully willing to pour Himself out upon us if only we make room, so we pray that we as a Christian body at UCSD would NOT HOLD BACK anything from the Lord, but would run at Him with abandonment, sacrificing for Him our lives that His storehouse might be full. Would we take God at His word and believe it fully. God, would we LOVE You. All we want is to LOVE YOU like You deserve to be loved. HELP US, GOD. Thank You for Your faithfulness and goodness and beautiful plan, God. We stand in awe of You.

Amos 5

A Lament and Call to Repentance

1 Hear this word, Israel, this lament I take up concerning you:

2 “Fallen is Virgin Israel,
never to rise again,
deserted in her own land,
with no one to lift her up.”

3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says to Israel:

“Your city that marches out a thousand strong
will have only a hundred left;
your town that marches out a hundred strong
will have only ten left.”

4 This is what the LORD says to Israel:

“Seek me and live;
5 do not seek Bethel,
do not go to Gilgal,
do not journey to Beersheba.
For Gilgal will surely go into exile,
and Bethel will be reduced to nothing.[a]
6 Seek the LORD and live,
or he will sweep through the tribes of Joseph like a fire;
it will devour them,
and Bethel will have no one to quench it.

7 There are those who turn justice into bitterness
and cast righteousness to the ground.

8 He who made the Pleiades and Orion,
who turns midnight into dawn
and darkens day into night,
who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land—
the LORD is his name.
9 With a blinding flash he destroys the stronghold
and brings the fortified city to ruin.

10 There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court
and detest the one who tells the truth.

11 You levy a straw tax on the poor
and impose a tax on their grain.
Therefore, though you have built stone mansions,
you will not live in them;
though you have planted lush vineyards,
you will not drink their wine.
12 For I know how many are your offenses
and how great your sins.

There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes
and deprive the poor of justice in the courts.
13 Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times,
for the times are evil.

14 Seek good, not evil,
that you may live.
Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is.
15 Hate evil, love good;
maintain justice in the courts.
Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy
on the remnant of Joseph.

16 Therefore this is what the Lord, the LORD God Almighty, says:

“There will be wailing in all the streets
and cries of anguish in every public square.
The farmers will be summoned to weep
and the mourners to wail.
17 There will be wailing in all the vineyards,
for I will pass through your midst,”
says the LORD.

The Day of the LORD

18 Woe to you who long
for the day of the LORD!
Why do you long for the day of the LORD?
That day will be darkness, not light.
19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion
only to meet a bear,
as though he entered his house
and rested his hand on the wall
only to have a snake bite him.
20 Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light—
pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?

21 “I hate, I despise your religious festivals;
your assemblies are a stench to me.
22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.
23 Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24 But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream!

25 “Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings
forty years in the wilderness, people of Israel?
26 You have lifted up the shrine of your king,
the pedestal of your idols,
the star of your god[b]
which you made for yourselves.
27 Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,”
says the LORD, whose name is God Almighty.

——————–

Lord, today we come before you on behalf of North and South Korea. We ask that You would establish justice and righteousness in Korea. Would you expose the barrenness and emptiness of the sin of idolatry in Korea and make it altogether unappealing to all who go there. Abba, send missionaries to North and South Korea and give them favor and blessing in the land there. Would people speak of You boldly and with conviction and would they not be cast down, rejected, and martyred in vain. Bring freedom politically, socially, and spiritually to Korea, Abba. Tear down the weak foundations built in both North Korea and South Korea. Would people hunger for You alone, Lord. We ask for wisdom from You for the political leaders in Korea as well as for the US and China. Father, give us wisdom from on High, for Your thoughts are not our thoughts and Your ways are not our ways. Lord, give wisdom and breakthrough and a Saul–>Paul encounter for Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un right now. Would they flee idolatry and come to You. We ask for complete submission to Your will.

We trust in Your sovereignty and ask that You, Almighty God, would rule with justice and righteousness, casting out sin because You hate it so much. Send Your cleansing judgment, Lord, that we might turn to You. We ask right now that You deliver North and South Korea from the veil they are living under, the delusions, and the falsehood that the enemy has established there either under deception by the media or by corrupt political leaders. Breakthrough miraculously, Lord, and bring forth justice and righteousness as bright as the noonday.

We also ask for protection of the people of North and South Korea during this time of uncertainty. Would You guard them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, God. Would they feel peace and turn to You, seeing that You are the only assurance that they have. We need a miraculous move of Your Spirit, God, so please come swiftly like You so long to do.

We love You, Lord.

Psalm 24

A Psalm of David.

1 The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive blessing from the LORD,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face.  Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
The LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts,
He is the King of glory.  Selah

LORD. Thank You that You are the Lord who created EVERYTHING. we declare that the earth is Yours, and everything in it is Yours. You are the King of GLORY. You have dominion over glory and how You choose to release Your glory. Thank You for Your perfect timing and goodness. We LONG to be in Your presence, to stand on Your holy hill. So Lord, make us a people who have clean hands and a pure heart, because You have washed us clean, Lord, would we seek You alone and to be like Jesus alone. Thank You that You have made us to be the righteousness of God and all You ask for is our hearts and lives. LORD, would we as Christians WELCOME in Your presence with every action of our lives, knowing that You enter in through the gates that the righteous open in our lifestyles. Abba, we long to see You in fullness, O King of Glory, strong and mighty in battle. Would we not quench out hunger with anything besides You. We love You so much, Lord, because You loved us first.

Monday: Week 7

November 13, 2010

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a]

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.[b] That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

-2 Peter 3:8-18

Lord, would we be a people who UNDERSTANDS Your grace and that You desire for everyone to be saved and have the full knowledge of You. Would you release a conviction in the body of Christ that we would be UNIFIED and that we would  speak boldly of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Would we as Christians strive to lead lives of righteousness and goodness out of earnest desire for NONE but You. Thank You for Your beauty, Lord, and for Your deep deep love for each of us. Give us greater revelation of the cross and of who You are, Holy One, King of Kings.

Fall Quarter 2010 Week 6

November 13, 2010

Thursday of week 6:

Ezekiel 37: we pray that the Christians on this campus would be like Ezekiel and pray and respond to what God is saying. We have been told by the Lord to prophesy over the dry bones. Would we be faithful to God’s call and would we also not settle for just living corpses, but for new life completely. Would we as followers of Christ speak boldly and with love. Our campus is full of people who are either just a pile of dry bones with no life at all, or just living bodies with no breath. We have satisfied ourselves with lesser desires and settled for far less than we can have. Lord, break us again and help us to be used to bring NEW LIFE that You have promised us.

Would we not settle for ANYTHING less than what You have promised us. Release a DESPERATION for You, living God. Would we know that You came to give LIFE, and would we be people of FAITH and OBEDIENCE.

Ezekiel 37:1-14 (New International Version)

The Valley of Dry Bones

1 The hand of the LORD was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”I said, “Sovereign LORD, you alone know.”

4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5 This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.

9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.

11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.’”

Greetings Everyone!!

Psalm 89, I will sing of the Steadfast love of the Lord, his faithfulness is unfailing. We trust that God’s plan for us is best for us. Isaiah 55, For as heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than you thoughts.

Isaiah 45: 4,5: For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I call you by your name, I name you, though you do not know me. I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God.

We pray for You to show us Yourself in our “practical” decisions. Our major, classes, graduation, etc.

Thank you for the music with the whistles that brings happiness to our hearts

We pray that we can include You in every aspect of our lives, that we don’t try to keep anything from Your touch

God’s plans do not end with what He has planned for us, they are greater than just the individual and that when we follow your plan for us it benefits the greater plan

BYE!!

Hello, readers of UCSDIVPRAYER weblog, i hope your weeks are all going well!

His Kingdom is not of this world! Jesus is not bound by our political, economical, and especially social trappings. We are reminded that everything good is done through the work of the Holy Spirit, not by our intelligence, social skills, or theological knowledge. Jesus did not come to establish a kingdom, with palaces, armies. Nor did he come to establish political parties and seminaries. Not to say that these things aren’t good. However, he came to establish a kingdom of turning the other cheek, loving your enemies, and giving your tunic when someone takes your cloak.

We pray for humility in our lives that reflect the humility of Jesus Christ in being God incarnate on this earth.

We pray for motivation that comes from God and his love for us.

Enjoy your week!!!

What are we thankful for?…

God provides in every way and He is worthy to be praised and thanked

God knows the desires of our hearts and that in Him we lack nothing

God is just and he does not forget our work and labor, but He gives us hope, grace, and promises that never fail even with our own failure

God restores us in faith, love and who we were meant to be; He made us beautiful

God is a God of right now! Everyday He is with us and He doesn’t forget about us; He wants to be in a relationship with us

God cares about the whole world!

God brings us back from the dry times and invites us into communion with Him through His son Jesus Christ!

For what God has accomplished this year, for what He has planned for the future, all the plans and excitement He has prepared for the leaders on campus next year

God is faithful!

That God is for us and He is fighting for us, that He doesn’t want us to suffer, but to experience joy!

For the people that God has placed in our lives that do not know Him.

That we don’t have to worry about tomorrow because God is our shepherd and He will provide for us, He loves us.

We pray for boldness for Jesus!

We pray for InterVarsity for the years to come that we can create a space for every person in our community where it is OK to come as we are and not hide so that God can meet us in truth. That we create a community of love and understanding and that we do not ignore anyone’s struggles including the ones that the christian community calls taboo.

Proverbs 16:1-9

1 To man belong the plans of the heart,
but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue.

2 All a man’s ways seem innocent to him,
but motives are weighed by the LORD.

3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
       and your plans will succeed.

4 The LORD works out everything for his own ends—
even the wicked for a day of disaster.

5 The LORD detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

 6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.

7 When a man’s ways are pleasing to the LORD,
he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.

8 Better a little with righteousness
       than much gain with injustice.

9 In his heart a man plans his course,
but the LORD determines his steps.

Verses 1, 3, and 9 stood out the most for all of us, reminding us to bring all of our issues before God and Christ Jesus, who is continually interceding for us; trust in His Holy Spirit to guide your life and lead you along the right path, with everything – friendships, relationships, careers, etc.  And Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.”

April 12th 2010

As I was biking down library walk toward the meeting, I was called to remember the Lord, and to remind myself of who He is, despite whatever situation that I might find myself in.

We were brought to Deut 8: 10-18

10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.”

Lets not forget our Lord, who lead us out of our own personal egypt, lead us out of slavery and out of the desert into the blessings and the riches we have today. And in response to remembering these things, lets but on the garments of praise, and worship God.

WORDS FROM THE LORD:

1) HUNGRY (we are hungry for spiritual filling)

2) God’s reminder of community – we are to eat of the body and drink of the blood: Uniting factor - if we don’t act out God’s sacrificial love – we are not partaking in his desired   community.

3) God turns the hearts of people back before he does work within them (verse?)

- desire for holiness and personal holiness

4) Image of us being spineless – needing to find secure, innate, truths that we can grapple onto. Without objective truths, we are spineless
